I have to admit that I do not like change. I guess it is because I am a creature of comfort. Routines and things that are familiar are pretty comfortable. Change can cause us to have to do things differently, learn new behaviors or practice old ones that may be a little rusty. Change can be intimidating because of the unknown variables. If we are going to a new job we may wonder, “Will I get a good boss? Will the people like me? Will I be successful?” If our company is going through reorganization we may worry that our job might be impacted and we may find ourselves unemployed. Changes in our health or in relationships can be just as disconcerting. Someone at work the other day said, “The only thing that is constant is the fact that we always face change.”
That statement is true. Change is a constant variable we face in this life. But change is not the only constant unchanging variable in this world. God reminds His people in Malachi 3:6 “I am the Lord, I do not change…” It is true. God is constant in His nature, constant in righteousness, holiness, and mercy. He is constant in all His characteristics. He is constant in His care, constant in His love, and constant in the grace that He will provide for you. The Lord is constant and unchanging in the promises that He makes in His word to you. You will face change and challenges in your life. You will face things that will frustrate you and things that you do not care for but you can always reach out to the Lord. He will be there for you!
I pray that you have a good week. I pray that your week is comfortable even if you face challenges. And I pray that you know that the Lord is there for you and unchanging in His love for you.
