Written Just for You!

A Letter for Me  A couple of weeks back I had been out of town for a while, and when I got back I was sick for a few days and busy playing catch up. As a result I had not seen my grandkids for a few days. They live just down the street so I usually see them on a very regular basis. During that time my granddaughter Avery wrote me a letter. She had asked me how to spell “Papaw” about a month earlier and she addressed the letter to me on one side all by herself from memory. Then on the other side she wrote and gave me illustrations of all of the things she wanted me to tell me. After I felt better she came over and helped me to read and understand the letter. Her letter was written with such love and affection!

Avery’s letter to me reminds me of what the Holy Scriptures say in Romans 15:4 “For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” God has written us a wonderful letter that we know as the Bible.

God is close to us, He desires to fellowship with us but we have been separated from Him. We have been busy with other activities and because of the sickness of our sin we experience broken fellowship with Him. God has sent us this letter, His Word so that we might be reminded of His love. He has sent us this letter so that we might know how to have our fellowship restored. He has sent us this letter so that we might know the redemption that is only offered through His Son Jesus Christ! He has sent us this letter so that through “perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”

God has reached out to us. He has taken the time to reveal His love, offer us hope, and provide us forgiveness and strength. In the last couple of weeks, I have cherished the letter given to me by my granddaughter. Have you cherished God’s word?   Have you received the instruction and encouragement that is only found in the Holy Scriptures? If not, you should turn to the pages of Holy Scripture today so that you can experience His love and know the blessings that only He provides.

About pastorpstephens

I have been blessed to have served as a pastor, a chaplain and to have been involved in other ministries throughout the years. My wife Marta and I have been blessed with a wonderful family that includes our daughter, her husband and their two daughters and our son and his wife and their son. Each of them are very special to us so please keep them all in your prayers. One truth that I always try to share with people I meet is that anything God asks you to do, He will help you to do. God has your back.
