When You Have a Need

Haley Shopping 11.01.14

I was walking through the store with my youngest granddaughter Haley when I heard, “Pawpaw, you got pockets?  You got money in you pockets?  I need money.”  Haley just turned three and she and her older sister get money from time to time. Most of it they save in their piggy banks but some they get to spend on goodies at the store.  While Haley may still be a little fuzzy on the difference between what she “needs” and what she “wants” she is clear on where to go to get her needs met.  When you have needs, you need to go to someone who is able and willing to meet your needs.

Do you know where to go with your needs?  Do you know where to turn in times of doubt, discouragement or distress?  The Bible says in Hebrews 4:16 “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

All of us have needs and at times we can be desperate to have them met.  Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 that our Heavenly Father knows all the things we need and if we seek His kingdom and His righteousness, He will provide all these things to us.  Draw near to the Lord and His throne of grace.  He is able and willing and He loves to meet all of our needs.  He has pockets that never run out of goodness, mercy and love.

About pastorpstephens

I have been blessed to have served as a pastor, a chaplain and to have been involved in other ministries throughout the years. My wife Marta and I have been blessed with a wonderful family that includes our daughter, her husband and their two daughters and our son and his wife and their son. Each of them are very special to us so please keep them all in your prayers. One truth that I always try to share with people I meet is that anything God asks you to do, He will help you to do. God has your back.
