I was blessed to spend some time with the granddaughters the other day and it was once again, a good day. The day started off by attending Avery’s soccer game. At the end of the game Avery and her teammates received a participation medal from their coach. As soon as she came to the sideline after the presentation, Avery who is 6 took the medal and placed it around her little sister’s neck. Haley who is 4 laughed and both the girls hugged and then they ran off to the playground together. I got to babysit them the rest of the day although there was very little sitting down. I took this picture of Avery brushing Haley’s hair later that day. All day long they demonstrated such love and kindness for one another. Yes, they have their squabbles from time to time, but overall they are very close and their relationship is always marked by love. The love the girls consistently show to one another reminds me of what Jesus said in John 13:34
John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Godly love should mark the relationships and the actions of those who follow Christ. Not only should it characterize the manner in which we live and treat others but it should also characterize the manner in which we are known and described by others. We are to love one another even as we have been loved by Him. Until next time, stay strong in the faith.
