Always a keeper

My wife and I took off a couple of days with some of our friends just to get out of town and go fishing.  We are going to take the kids and grandkids to the coast in a couple of weeks but we wanted to take a quick trip for just the two of us.  We seldom get to go away just by ourselves.  We had a good time even though it was just for a couple of days.  I caught one decent size flounder that was a keeper and about 15 others that were fun to catch but too small to keep.  They did not measure up and just weren’t worth keeping.  I am glad that the Lord doesn’t make those judgments about us.  I am glad that He decides that we are all worthy to keep.  He says in John 6:37 “whosoever comes to Me, I will in no ways cast out”.  I don’t know if everybody fully appreciates how wonderful and special that is.

I know people who have faced rejection from others in their lives.  I know people who have even been turned away from their own families.  That is tragic and can hurt and harm someone for the rest of their life.  It can impact their ability to trust others and it can keep them from opening up and from ever allowing themselves to be vulnerable and to trust others again.  I pray that those people will come to know that we serve a good and gracious God.  I pray that those people will come to know that the Lord is worthy to be trusted.

The Lord promises that whoever comes to Him, He will never cast out.  He values each of us greatly.  We are all worthy of keeping in the eyes of the Lord.  There is no size or weight requirement.  There is not certain type or standard that He is looking for.  Simply come to Him and He will keep you and protect you.  He will embrace.  He will offer you forgiveness, strength, mercy and comfort.  He will never cast you out.

About pastorpstephens

I have been blessed to have served as a pastor, a chaplain and to have been involved in other ministries throughout the years. My wife Marta and I have been blessed with a wonderful family that includes our daughter, her husband and their two daughters and our son and his wife and their son. Each of them are very special to us so please keep them all in your prayers. One truth that I always try to share with people I meet is that anything God asks you to do, He will help you to do. God has your back.
