Happy Memorial Day!

Yay for Memorial Day!  As I think of all those wonderful days off through the years I naturally think of the times with the family playing horse shoes, having barbecue and taking a swim.  But Memorial Day is really so much more important and meaningful than just kicking off the summer with a day of fun.

As we celebrate Memorial Day we should recognize that many have given their lives that we may have the freedom to worship as we choose.  We have been blessed by the sacrifice of others.  The Bible says in John 15:13

“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”  John 15:13

We are indeed blessed and should be extremely grateful that some have given their lives that we can have such great freedoms in this country.  These words in John chapter 15 were spoken by Christ who gave His life that we may have forgiveness of our sin and so that we can have fellowship with Him and with the Father.

I hope you enjoy your Memorial Day.  And I hope you take the time to reflect upon your blessings and lift up a prayer of gratitude for those who have sacrificed for us and a prayer of protection for those who are serving now.  May God bless you.

About pastorpstephens

I have been blessed to have served as a pastor, a chaplain and to have been involved in other ministries throughout the years. My wife Marta and I have been blessed with a wonderful family that includes our daughter, her husband and their two daughters and our son and his wife and their son. Each of them are very special to us so please keep them all in your prayers. One truth that I always try to share with people I meet is that anything God asks you to do, He will help you to do. God has your back.
