Happy Father’s Day 2016

I hope you enjoy a Happy Father’s Day. I know I will. Most of the family will be coming over after church for some hotdogs and hamburgers. I am looking forward to having a very good day. I do have to say though that my dad passed away almost ten years ago and I miss him, especially on days like today. I miss him on days when a big football game is on and it seems like the outcome is coming down to one play and in times past I could pick up the phone and call him and we could share that moment together. I miss him when I have some expression of his go through my mind, something like, “If you’re going to be a bear…be a grizzly” or “Yeah, it’s just a game…until you lose.” I miss him on days like today when the family is gathered together because he sure did love his grandkids and I sure would love for him to get to spend some time his great-grandkids. Yeah, sometimes I just miss him but I am comforted by the fact that he knew the Lord. And based on the promise of John 14:1-3 someday I will see my dad again.

About pastorpstephens

I have been blessed to have served as a pastor, a chaplain and to have been involved in other ministries throughout the years. My wife Marta and I have been blessed with a wonderful family that includes our daughter, her husband and their two daughters and our son and his wife and their son. Each of them are very special to us so please keep them all in your prayers. One truth that I always try to share with people I meet is that anything God asks you to do, He will help you to do. God has your back.
